The Young Musicians by George Brooks Percy Spooner Lillingston
The Young Musicians by George Brooks Percy Spooner Lillingston (1850-1932)
An excellent late 19th century watercolour depicting young musicians playing on the Cornish coast.
Signed and dated 1887, presented under a double mount in a good quality frame.
Born in Birmingham on 22 April 1850, Lillingston came to Newlyn prior to 1890, and was exhibiting from a Newlyn address from 1891. He had already exhibited at the RA in 1878, but more regularly at the RBA (SS) and elsewhere. He remained in the Penzance area for about twenty years, departing in the early 1910s. He lived variously in London and Leamington, and was living in Plymouth by 1922.

On the Coast near Lamorna, circle of Harold Harvey (1874-1941)
A wonderful, large painting depicting a conversation between a fisherman and two ladies. The granite rock forms suggest a location around Lamorna. The painting is of a very high quality and it is well presented in a heavy gilt frame.
The painting is unsigned and there are no clear clues to it's authorship. It is in the manner of Harold Harvey.
Oil on canvas, 22" x 36"
